San Jose residents are speaking out against plans for a Buddhist temple in the Evergreen area over concerns it will cause the neighborhood to be overrun with traffic and noise. The 13,900-square-foot Wat Khmer Kampuchea Krom Temple is planned for a 1.86-acre vacant corner lot at the intersection of Ruby and Norwood avenues, which previously included a home and dilapidated barn. While neighbors say they are not opposed to the Khmer community having a place to worship, they don't want the temple near their homes. Murali Pabbisetty's home backs up to the proposed temple site. These are the top 10 vehicles targeted for catalytic converter theft, according to Carfax He worries the project is too big for the site and will decrease pedestrian safety and bring too many cars to the area that could block the entrance to the cul-de-sac where he lives. "A lot of people walk here, a lot of people run, a lot of people bike," Pabbisetty told San Jose Spotlight. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Maxi Kleber drilled the winning 3-pointer at the buzzer on a pass from Kyrie Irving, who scored 38 points in the Dallas Mavericks’ stunning 111-110 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night. With Luka Doncic sidelined, Kleber did a remarkable imitation of the injured superstar who has repeatedly beaten the Lakers with big shots over the years.Kleber first hit three free throws with 7.2 seconds to play after Anthony Davis unwisely fouled him on a 3-point attempt, and Davis made just one of two for Los Angeles after getting fouled on the ensuing inbounds pass. Dallas got the ball to Irving, who drew a double-team and found Kleber for an open 3-pointer released just before the horn.Irving scored 13 points in the fourth quarter of his return from a three-game injury absence for the Mavs, who avoided falling into a three-way tie with the Lakers and the Timberwolves in the tight Western Conference standings.Davis had 26 points and 10 rebounds for the Lake...Collins, Mississippi reach NCAA second round, beat Gonzaga

STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — Snudda Collins knew exactly how many shots she had missed, having carefully kept track of her stat lines through the Southeastern Conference Tournament: 0 for 22.“I was in a slump,” she said.“I did not know that, every time Snudda shoots I think it’s going in,” teammate Angel Baker said.Collins found her groove again and scored 15 points, and eighth-seeded Mississippi once again leaned on its stingy defense to get past the first round of the NCAA Tournament this time after last year’s big disappointment, beating No. 9 seed Gonzaga 71-48 on Friday night. The Rebels shut down one of the best 3-point-shooting teams in the country.“Coming into this game I think I was 0 for 22 and I knew that, and I kind of took it personal,” Collins said. Now, bring on top-seeded Stanford on its home court.Ole Miss will face the Cardinal (29-5) on Sunday for a spot at the Sweet Sixteen in Seattle next weekend.
