Adam Wainwright easing into retirement with new puppy, TV work and more country music

Days after his playing career ended, Adam Wainwright is dealing with a pressing issue. A cute, fluffy one.Louie, a Lagotto Romagnolo puppy that was gifted to Wainwright by the St. Louis Cardinals — his only major league team — is at the center of a running family argument.“Everybody’s fighting on who’s holding him,” Wainwright said. “I’m a little worried he’s not going to learn how to walk here, if we can’t put him on the ground soon.”Working in walks for Louie is a different type of concern for Wainwright after 18 seasons in the majors — when walks of the bases-on-balls variety were more than a minor inconvenience. The 42-year-old right-hander finished his big league career with a 200-128 record and a 3.53 ERA.Wainwright’s playing days are over, but he isn’t exactly taking it easy in retirement. The Georgia native and his wife, Jenny, have five children; daughters Baylie Grace (17), Addison (14), Macy James (11) and Sadee Faith (5), along w...

Nice Weekend Weather Ahead Overall

Published Fri, 21 Feb 2025 17:13:54 GMT

Thankfully, this trend continues into our weekend with high pressure and some dry air staying in control of our pattern. It is still rainy season, however, so it won’t be completely dry but rain chances will be below normal for this time of the year. This Friday, expect lots of sunshine with just a few spotty showers possible in the afternoon and evening. Record highs could be tied or broken in Miami, Marathon and Key West!Expect lots of sunshine through much of the day on Saturday, with just the chance for a few late-day showers. Record heat will be possible with highs in the low 90s at most locations, and it will feel hotter with the higher humidity.Sunday is looking fairly similar as Saturday. The only exception is that there will be a few more clouds and temperatures may be a touch lower as a weak front ente...

Unprecedented discovery seems to defy fundamental astronomical theories

(CNN) — New images from the James Webb Space Telescope have revealed surprising pairs of planet-like objects in the Orion Nebula that have never been detected before. The Orion Nebula, a glowing cloud of dust and gas, is one of the brightest nebulae in the night sky and identifiable as the sword in the Orion constellation. Located 1,300 light-years from Earth, the nebula has long presented astronomers with a wealth of celestial objects to study, including planet-forming disks around young stars and brown dwarfs, or objects with a mass between that of planets and stars.Astronomers used Webb’s near-infrared camera, called NIRCam, to capture mosaics of the Orion Nebula in short and long wavelengths of light, revealing unprecedented details and unexpected discoveries. When astronomers Samuel G. Pearson and Mark J. McCaughrean studied the short-wavelength image of the Orion Nebula, they zoomed in on the Trapezium Cluster, a young star-forming region that’s about 1 million ye...
